Bewdley Baptist Church is a group of Christians who share a desire to put Jesus at the centre of their lives. There has been a Baptist church in Bewdley since 1649 and although the church has changed greatly with each generation, there still remains a commitment to the basic values and understanding of God that started the church over 350 years ago. | A God of loveThe church still believes that God is a god of love, who has made himself known to humans through the life and words of Jesus Christ. This is reflected in our services, but also in the lives of people in the church, as they study their bibles at home and in groups meeting in other people’s homes. | | We continue to believe that God calls us to love our neighbours and the people of the church continue to be involved in helping those in need, both in the locality, the UK and abroad | Sundays The church service on a Sunday morning is the point at which we meet to praise God through singing, praying for each other and wider issues, and hearing from the bible. It is also a time when we meet together and share conversations over coffee. | | On Sunday evenings we have a quieter time, reading the bible, and sharing together in prayer. However, we believe that Sunday services are a small part of a larger picture of what it means to be Christian.
| Living out our faithThose involved in the church try and live out their faith each day. This involves praying and reading the bible regularly, showing love and compassion to those around them, and getting involved in enriching local communities. | Some of this is expressed through the church, in ways such as Noah’s Ark (the parents and toddlers group), distributing food to those in need, the weekly Art Group, Women’s Own, Men’s breakfasts and monthly pensioners meals. (see Our Week) | | Others express their faith by getting involved in other organisations, such as Bewdley Development Trust, or in the places that they live. The church also has links with organisations and individuals abroad, such as BMS World Mission and Eagle Wings School in South Africa. More details of these can be found on our Mission page. |
